Our dog boarding business, Smith Ranch Kennels grew out of a love for animals and we are dedicated to the safety, security and wellbeing of each and every dog in our care. All dogs receive tender loving care and personal attention. We are especially attentive to special diets and needs of elderly dogs. We live on the premises providing round the clock care and attention to the kennel. The kennel is never left unattended.

Smith Ranch Kennels is located on Farm Road 510 two miles west of Bayview, between San Benito and South Padre Island. Our home and kennel operation are located in the center of 25 acres, providing privacy for the kennel and plenty of wildlife to keep boarded dogs from becoming bored. Sheep, donkeys, birds, ground squirrels and cottontail rabbits in surrounding pastures provide plenty of entertainment for your dog.

We realize that many dogs prefer the outdoors and we have plenty of outdoor runs available for them. However, for those more accustomed to a cooler setting, the air-conditioned room provides a comfortable haven during those sizzling summer days and a warm cozy refuge during winter.

Dog owners are encouraged to bring whatever they feel will help their dog adjust more easily to its new environment; such as the dog's bedding, toys, treats or chews. However, all of these are provided here. If a dog is on a special diet, such as one of the prescription diets, we ask that you bring that food with the dog. We provide a wide variety of dog foods here in case your dog is a finicky eater.
